Cradle Mountain
One of Tasmania's most visited natural attractions and home to the famous Tasmanian devil, Cradle Mountain draws tourists with its beautiful landscapes and diverse wildlife. The mountain is situated within a national park that encompasses rugged peaks, grasslands, alpine heaths, ancient rainforests, and glacial lakes. Start your hike to the summit from the Dove Lake early in the morning. The climb is long and can be difficult for inexperienced (or out of shape) tourists. When you reach the peak, your effort will be awarded with memorable views over Tasmanian wilderness. Put Cradle Mountain and other Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park attractions into our Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park trip itinerary builder tool, and watch your holiday take shape.

One of the best preserved natural place to have the wonderful view of mountain peaks and walk around the lakes. You will experience the forest Walk when you go around the Nova lakh . Stunning views and landscapes.

Very pleasant day trip at Cradle Mountain. We did the Crater Lake walk which was relatively straightforward and easy. Some inclines and descents but nothing too strenuous. Great day trip if you are staying near Launceston. There is a 10-15m shuttle from the car park that takes you to various stop off points (visitor centre, etc) and ends at the Cradle Mountain hikes. After your hike you can shuttle back to the car park. Relatively busy but not too crazy even though we were there during the holidays. Once we got out on the hike it got much quieter too. Had our eyes out for wombats, unfortunately didn't see any, but still plenty of critters and birds around. It was quite a hot morning so I imagine most were seeking shade.
