Gallery of Modern Art
The Queensland Art Gallery - Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) is a single institution located across two adjacent river-side buildings in the Cultural Precinct at Brisbane's South Bank. QAGOMA holds a collection of historical, modern and contemporary art, and stages a dynamic program of Australian and international exhibitions. We are home to the Children's Art Centre which collaborates on interactive artworks with leading artists from around the world, and the Australian Cinematheque, the only dedicated cinema facility in an Australian art museum. QAGOMA operates its own retail outlets and cafes and restaurants, proceeds from which support the Gallery. The Gallery holds some very well curated exhibitions. The recent motor cycle exhibition was a great example of a really popular event. There is plenty of space for many visitors and space for inspiration and reflective thinking. The Gallery Cafe over looking the Brisbane River is really a wonderful hospitality venue with great staff, good food and the tree lined bank of the river with its many boats and bridges. The blue water dragons are friendly and courageous as they guard the southern bank of the river. Post Script... Today, 18 June 2022 we returned for lunch at the River Side Cafe, exquisite food, drinks and kind and gentle staff. The River is recovering after the recent floods. It was a beautiful winters day. A new exhibition was just opening...

Why does time fly so quickly in this place? I walked in just after lunch time and next minute, I hear the announcement that warns guests of closing time. Whatever art style you prefer, you will find it in the current collection. You may even come across something new that you enjoy. Staffs are well presented and approachable.
