  • Today was my third visit to Featherdale. I finally got around to purchasing an Annual Pass, so I can visit regularly, and check out which animals are most active on the day. Highlights today: being approached by several gorgeous little wallabies. And then a beautiful free-ranging golden pheasant strolled by. It was fairly quiet this afternoon, so I could check out the wombat on my own - what a character, waddling around his enclosure, investigating everything. I was so close that I could have patted him over the fence, but the novelty wouldn’t have justified the risk! The little penguins also came right up to the fence, they seemed inquisitive. The striking black and gold regent bowerbird was stunning, flitting around his enclosure, shared by other birds. And the beautiful pair of gang gang cockatoos, showing each other such affection. I’ve been to many zoos and wildlife parks all over Australia and they all have much to offer. But when it comes to Australian wildlife, this is very easily the best!
