  The Quang Tri Citadel is a really wonderful stop. The 200 year-old citadel was pretty mush destroyed in the 81 day siege, but the original gate is there, with bullet holes. Its really sobering and.....  more »

  Quang Tri citadel is located on the bank of Thach Han river. This place was the site of fierce battles during the American war. It was built in 1809 by order of Emperor Gia Long, initially it made by clay. In 1837 during the Minh Mang reign it was re built in brick. The citadel covers 20 ha with circumference of 2 km. The Quang Tri citadel was a military forstress and also an administrative, political and economic center . The site now attracts many foreign and Vietnamese tourists due to its historic story.
