Originally established in the 17th century, Thien Mu Pagoda remains one of nation's oldest and best-preserved religious buildings. Situated on the Perfume River, the temple rises in seven tiers, each dedicated to human forms taken by Buddha during his road to Enlightenment. Upon your arrival, notice the wooden temple guardians with real human hair as beards near the entrance. Inside the compound, you can visit the monastic buildings, a large cemetery, and a beautifully maintained garden of pine trees. The tallest religious building in Vietnam and it is stunning with a beautiful view over the perfume river. Behind the pagoda itself theres a few other structures and a small garden to wander around. You can go in the pagoda but there is a temple which you can go in. We spent about 45 minutes here soaking up the view. It is a religious site and there are monks who live there so you are requested to cover shoulders and knees. Well worth adding it your list of things to do in Hue especially for the views and the photo opportunities. Plenty of dragon boats will take you there and back on the river.

Beautiful and peaceful Pagoda with scenic grounds. It's a little far from other things in Hue (we walked about an hour from our hotel and wished we had just taken a taxi) but there are taxis and boats station close to the entrance so it is easy to find transportation when you are leaving. Would reccomend spending about 20-40 minutes here and it is not ideal for small kids as they have monks praying and request that guests remain quiet. Bring water with you as they don't sell it inside but there are little stalls just outside where you can buy cold water, hats, bags, souvenirs etc.
