Spreading below Ho Chi Minh City, Cu Chi Tunnels connect to a broader network of tunnels that served the Viet Cong during the war against the United States. North Vietnamese fighters used the dark, insect- and disease-infested tunnels to avoid aerial attacks, hide, move troops and supplies, plan battles, and launch attacks. After the U.S. realized the importance of the tunnels to Viet Cong military strategy, it led a series of campaigns to infiltrate, bomb, and destroy them, a feat that proved largely unsuccessful. Numerous tour operators run visits to the tunnels; prepare for cramped spaces. We had an Excellent guide and it proved an interesting experience for a Vietnam Veteran. I knew of the Tunnels from IR's but did not encounter a tunnel during the war. more »

Great experience, history lesson. My kids even enjoyed it, very busy. If claustrophobic, make sure you don’t get stuck in the back of a lot of old or overweight people when you go in the tunnels... more »

What an amazing place , history of this place is unreal , what courage and determination . Brilliant minds. Visiting as a tourist and loving every moment going through the entire journey .How well they have retained it .The forest is awesome.A must visit when ur in Vietnam . There is a shooting gallery very close to this place. And also a new beautiful temple . Crawling through those tunnels (like a maize) was a crazy experience.

We decided to visit on Christmas Day and were the only people on the car park when we arrived! Getting out of Saigon did take some time in the traffic. (About 90 minutes rash way) A tour guide accompanied us to get more information and although this was more expensive it was worth the money. The experience really gave an insight to some of the hardships that the Vietnam people went through during the war. Only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because the exhibits are now a little run down. Also a shame they felt effects of COVID and the site hasn’t had many tourists this year.
