Con Dao National Park
Côn Đảo National Park (Vietnamese: Vườn quốc gia Côn Đảo) is a natural reserve area on Côn Đảo Island, in Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province in coastal southeastern Vietnam. The park includes a part of the island and the surrounding sea. The national park is characterized by a diverse ecosystem. Many species of corals and especially the sea turtles, dolphins, and endangered dugongs are found here. In 2006, a delegation of UNESCO Vietnam representatives surveyed the area and concluded that the park is eligible to be a natural-cultural mixture World Heritage. The Vietnamese government is preparing necessary documents to submit to UNESCO soon. A controversial paved road project had been proposed by the local government but was finally rejected by the national government following protests from environmental activists. The National Park is worth a visit while you stay in Con Dao. With entrance ticket 60.000 vnd, you need at least 3 hours to do trekking there. The trails are easy to follow; the trees, the birds, the.... more »

It's really nice to walk through the jungle! But what we really don't understand is the way the nature is treated, even in this "protected" zone. Ways are under construction (2019), which is OK, but cement bags (plastic!) lay around everywhere instead of being gathered and disposed. Motorbikes drive on the ways to get the cement from a to b. No chance to see animals or birds with that noise. Unfortunately a disappointing trip. Please Guys, keep your plastic! Don't litter it everywhere in the nature of your beautiful island, nor in the national park! Besides the tourists the "official" workers should be educated in that!

Be careful the tracks are extremely slippery. Take good shoes. Ong dong beach was quite disappointing unless you snorkel. Watch for the aggressive monkeys.
