Loretto Chapel, a former Roman Catholic church, is known for its unusual spiral staircase. Called the Miraculous Staircase, it makes two 360-degree turns and is 6 m (20 ft) tall--but has no visible means of support. It's not only an engineering mystery; no one knows for certain who built it. The Sisters of Loretto credit St. Joseph, the patron saint of carpenters, with its construction. After examining the staircase, give yourself enough time to appreciate the Gothic Revival architecture of this late 19th-century building. It features imposing spires, buttresses, and stained-glass windows imported from France. Beautiful chapel though quite small. The staircase to the choir loft was very beautiful and unique. It is a spiral staircase with no central column and has 2 complete turns. The wood is quite beautiful. The stained glass windows were also nice as well as the altar itself. Worth the $5 entrance fee to support the maintenance of the structure.

Beautiful little church and chapel. The staircase is truly amazing and beautiful, I only wish that you could walk on it. Don’t plan to spend more than 20 minutes because the chapel is beautiful but small, the most amazing part of it of course is the staircase although the altar is also something to see. Definitely worth the five dollar entrance fee.
