Queen's Bath, Princeville

#3 of 17 in Things to do in Princeville
Geologic Formation · Nature / Park
Bathe in the crystal clear waters and take in views of the Pacific Ocean at Queen's Bath. Access this natural tide pool via a short trail. You'll discover abundant sea life including urchins, angelfish, and local ghost fish. The collapse of a lava tube shaped the pool and natural springs filled it with water. Natives considered the pool sacred in ancient times. Be aware that when wave activity is violent (usually in winter) the tide pool can be dangerous. • Best natural swimming pool on the island... summer only... 1/2 mile walk in mud but well worth... the last pool is my favorite  more »
  • Very hard to get there. The slope was steep and mud was slippery as ice. Even after going very slowly and with extreme care I manage to slip and fall a couple of times. I did not get hurt but this hike is for very experienced. You must have amazing coordination. There are places where there is no branches to hold onto and that is why I slipped. Still pretty worth the effort once you get there
  • The gate is closed off but if you go just a little to the right, there's an opening. There were several people there so we weren't the only ones going through. Haha. Slippery hike, wear shoes not sandals. Lots of mud. But it's short so getting to the end is worth it. Very beautiful. Go to the left at the end of the hike. Keep going till you pass the big swells, then you'll see the actual "bath"
