This national park ($20) was so cool to visit. A place of refuge, what an interesting concept. Thoroughly enjoyed the walk around the ruins, appreciating the carved statues, gazing into the waters... more »

Ample parking. Short, interesting walk around the ancient royal grounds. Right on the ocean and beautiful bay. A reasonable place to get a bit of culture. Also has a separate picnic grounds right on the water under coconut trees. Not worth the trip to drive all the way from the city. But it's next door to fantastic Two Steps snorkeling. Snorkeling was the primary attraction. Afterward, we went next door to this Park to have a picnic.

If you are in Hawaii to learn about their culture this is a good place for a lesson. They gave talks tell of the history and Heritage of the center. The trails through the center are flat and easy to walk with markers and a map explaining their meaning. The walk is very warm and you should bring water. There is a small but cute gift shop. The bathrooms are clean with running water.
