  • Park in the Steam Vents parking lot. Hike on the level trail about 0.5 mile to get to the boardwalk and the signs that explain things. We did not smell any rotten eggs (S02), so the wind must have.....  more »
  • The surfer banks are what you see in the distance by the visitor center, which you will see from a distance. It's neat seeing the smoke raise up, but it's no where near as neat as the steam vents...  more »

  • The sulphur banks were part of a long and meandering walk which started at the visitor center. These were interesting to see, and I took plenty of pictures. There isn't much shade along the walk, so I was glad that we went on a day when it was cloudy. The trail was clear and there were plenty of families about with strollers.
  • Beautiful scenery unique and only found in Hawaii! Best time to come is sunset which adds an extra level on uniqueness to the area!
