Built in 1929, The Factory occupies the buildings that once served as the Dortch Stove Works, Magic Chef and later the Jamison Bedding Company. A member of the National Register of Historic Places, The Factory is rich with history and a very careful renovation has preserved many of The Factory's original features and architectural details. Calvin bought the sprawling complex seven years ago and, after an environmental clean-up, began opening the facility in sections. We were there in June....I am sorry to say that it appeared that many booths were empty, probably due to COVID-19. The ones that were there were great! I am not sure what the names of them were... more »

This is a really cool place to visit! It’s an old converted factory where appliances used to be made. It’s now filled with shops, eateries, and even a venue for special occasions. The food selection is great (you have to try the tacos!) There are local “specialty” shops. A vintage record store. A reclaimed home decor shop. If you have a beard (or shave one), there’s a shop for that, too. Beef jerky- check. A barber shop (with a bar for refreshments while you wait)- check. A ceramic crafting/painting shop. Some really amazing insects (you’ll see what I mean when you visit). Seafood, ice cream, (did I mention tacos?)... It’s really worth a visit! A great way to kill some time, enjoy some local culture, and explore a really cool old building.

Very cool place. Had ice cream at Jeni's ice cream and also had a donut from 5 sisters bakery. Both were outstanding. Really neat place built in an old stove factory.
