Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, Chantilly

Aug 11 4pm. My wife and I took our 5 yr old, 2 yr old and 5 month old to this museum. A third of it was closed for cleaning but we still did get through all off the open parts in the 1. 5 hrs we were there. The kids really enjoyed it. Masks were required and social distancing was expected and easy to do in the very large area. The hanger is full of life size planes. There were less than 25 p people in the museum. If you go after 4 parking is free and the museum is always free.

Fantastic! The buildings themselves are impressive, and what is inside amazing. The planes and spacecraft are restored with intricate detail. They have a lot of them hanging from the ceiling with elevated walks so you are able to see them up close. Informational signage is available throughout so you can understand the significance of many of the crafts. They are currently doing a roofing project on the facility, so they have a decent amount of the planes covered in plastic, so that was a little bit of a bummer, but I understand a facility like theirs requires constant maintenance. Great experience for the kids and Dad alike!
