Spend some time at Windsor Great Park and you will appreciate why it has long been a favorite spot of the British royal family. Though you might not get an invite to visit Prince Andrew, Duke of York, at his official residence there, you will still have more than 5,000 acres of gardens, woodlands, and open grasslands at your disposal for strolling or nature watching. Bicycles, picnic baskets, and leashed dogs are welcome in many areas of the park. With history stretching back more than 700 years, the park has variously served as a stocked deer park for hunts and royal retreats. Be sure to keep an eye open for the ancient oak that pre-dates most countries by centuries. The park is governed by the Crown Estate, which means it is specially cared for by the British royal family, who welcomes yours here.     Beautiful setting for a walk round the Virginia Water Lake. A few stops where you can buy tea, coffees and ice cream and wander around. What's especially lovely is that the plant life is so varied that it has something different to see all year round. Highly recommended

    This place is absolutely amazing (certainly during nice weather). It is not too crowded, probably depends on the day, but still. Because of park being quite large you can easily find a spot just for you. We have spent there a few hours. Parking fare is reasonable. I do strongly recommend it to all nature lovers and all those who seek some escape from daily routine.
