If you enjoy a good costume drama, Charlecote Park is probably your cup of tea. You can even on a period maid’s apron and try your hand in its fully operational Victorian kitchen. Home to the Lucy family for more than 800 years, the house is one of England’s best-preserved estates with formal gardens and miles of woodland walks opposite the River Avon. Costumed volunteers lead guided tours through the brewhouse, tack room and great hall. You’re welcome to enjoy a sit-down meal at the on-site restaurant or bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds, where William Shakespeare was once caught poaching.     The parkland is a pleasure to walk around. There was however a number of discarded take away cups. The sale of beverages in take away mugs is a mixed blessing.  more »

    First visit here , not able to visit inside but great to be able to wonder around in safety. Saw lots of deer which was an unexpected surprise. Great place to have a picnic and bring children. We...  more »

    It's the usual National Trust sort of high standards. Nice day out, place clean and tidy and well cared for. Didn't use the cafe this time but its been decent in the past. Decent secondhand book shop as well.

    Lovely place to spend half the day wandering around. The staff in the different rooms were very helpful answering any questions and told great stories about the house and the people who lived there. There were also A4 information boards in each room that you could carry around with you and read whilst you explored the room.
