Truro Cathedral, Truro

#2 of 49 in Things to do in Truro
Must see · Landmark · Tourist Spot
Never failing to inspire awe, Truro Cathedral soars above the surrounding rooftops and dominates the city skyline. Built between 1880 and 1910, the cathedral was designed in the Gothic Revival style, which was fashionable during much of the 19th century. The site is noted for being one of only three cathedrals in the United Kingdom with three spires. Located in the middle of the city and surrounded by numerous shops and restaurants, the cathedral offers informative guided tours on a daily basis. Begin or end your educational visit at the on-site coffee shop, where you can enjoy a hot cup of tea and a light snack. Be sure to pick up a souvenir of your trip at the cathedral’s popular gift shop. • Spent a lovely morning looking round Truro Cathedral inside and out. Very impressed by the architecture for a modern cathedral ( 1880 ). Lot's of pieces of art in the form of sculptures, paintings. Matchstick cathedral. Lovely pipe organ. Very ornate font. Very good Cathedral cafe. Food and drink reasonably priced. Pot of tea for one £1.40 and I managed 3 cups out of it. Large slice of carrot cake - £3. Can use the cafe separate to the Cathedral which is free to enter anyway. Donation suggested. Guide book 3.50. Which goes towards the upkeep of cathedral.
  • Beautiful place to visit, steeped in history. Staff are very helpful. Get away from the hustle and bustle of shopping ( not my thing). Immerse yourself in the grandeur but tranquil place of worship.
