Take a stroll up or down one of England's most atmospheric streets, Steep Hill. Named for its steep 14 percent gradient, the street spills down from the Lincoln Cathedral, at the top, to Well Lane, at the bottom. In between, you'll find an array of retro and vintage shops, pubs, and tearooms housed in old brick and stone buildings. As you stroll past Norman House and Jew's House, stop to admire their Norman architecture, which includes mullioned windows typical of the period. Because the street does live up to its name, you'll likely find the downhill route a bit easier.
