At Hever Castle & Gardens, see where the famous second wife of King Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn, spent her childhood. Boleyn's brief marriage to the King--and subsequent execution when he sought a new wife--made her a key figure in the Church of England's 16th-century break from the Vatican. Today, you can see portraits from her era, paintings, furniture, and tapestries in the castle where she grew up. Outside, view Italian, rose, and Tudor gardens and walk around the water maze and shrubs trimmed into statues. Special events, such as gardening sessions with the Head Gardener and jousting tournaments, happen throughout the year. Check the schedule before you visit. Easy to book online. Sad because of Covid and the area moving into tier 3 inside castle tour was cancelled. We received an email and a prompt refund. The evening was still very enjoyable, lots of... more »

The gardens at Hever Castle are fantastic, better than any other similar property I've visited in the UK. We spent around 5 hours here (including a look around the castle itself and a break for lunch) and still hadn't seen all of the gardens. I highly recommend a visit if you're in the area and are lucky enough to have a nice sunny day.

The gardens are absolutely amazing, we stayed there for around 4 hours but could have easily spent another hour or two. We took a train from London Victoria to Hever and walked to the castle. It was about a 20 minute leisurely walk to the castle along a couple footpaths. We could see almost the entire castle save the kitchen. The gardens were our favorite part, definitely worth a visit.
