Robinswood Hill is a hill and country park to the south of the city centre of Gloucester, close to the Stroud Road (A4173). It rises to 650 ft (198 m), and is owned and managed by Gloucester City Council's Countryside Unit. The Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust also has its head office based here. Our Gloucester online visit planner makes visiting Robinswood Hill Country Park and other Gloucester attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.
It was originally one of the main sources of water to the city. The springs rising on Robin's Wood Hill were used by Gloucester Abbey in the 13th century. Reservoirs were built by the Gloucester Water Company in 1837-8 and taken over by the City in 1855. Robinswood Hill ceased to provide water supply in 1924 but the reservoirs remained in use for storage until 1946; they have now been backfilled to provide carparks and a countryside centre for the thousands of visitors that use the hill for recreation and inspiration. It is home to much wildlife and affords spectacular views of the surrounding area including other hills of Gloucester, the Cotswolds, Malvern Hills, May Hill and on a clear day the Severn Bridges.
The country park itself is a 100ha site. On the other side of the Hill is a dry ski slope and golf course complex. The park is a Local Nature Reserve, and an area called Robin's Wood Hill Quarry is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Robinswood Hill Country Park reviews
We stooped for lunch and got a panini, soup & drinks and I have to say it was 10/10 in every way and good value for money more »
The park is huge, lots to explore and enjoy. Extremely steep in places but the views at the top are beautiful. I shouldn’t be shocked by other people’s lack of respect, consideration and appreciation.... more »
Beautiful day at with family. Great place for all ages to enjoy. Its kept clean and the trails are easy to follow. Been taking my sons up there since they were little and they still enjoy it now they are all grown. Robinswood Hill has given us lots of great memories over the years 😁
Great for a day out, little play park for the kids. BBQ areas with benches, plenty of parking. Great place for a sunny or rainy days. Lots of walks and wonderful views of Gloucester when you reach the top of the hill.
