Scotland’s oldest public museum, Hunterian Museum houses vast collections spread throughout several buildings on a campus. On your visit, head to The Hunterian Museum, where you’ll find displays on geology, ethnography, ancient Egypt, scientific instruments, coins and medals, and much more. Visit The Zoology Museum, which houses an extensive insect collection. Next, the art gallery features the works of James McNeill Whistler, the majority of the watercolors of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, and an outdoor sculpture garden. Lastly, the Mackintosh House is a modern concrete building and part of the gallery-library complex. This site features some of the original woodwork of the old terraced house and the meticulously reassembled interiors from Mackintosh's home.   • Lovely little museum, but I was unprepared for all the “stuff” in jars - as my 10 year old son said “interesting but gross”!  more »
