The historically rich Glasgow Cathedral is an exceptional example of gothic architecture that has served as a place of worship for over 800 years. Explore where the patron saint of Glasgow, Saint Mungo, is believed to have built his church in the 6th century, and venture into the crypt where his tomb stands. As you walk through the aisles, marvel at one of the finest post-war collections of stained-glass windows to be found in Britain. Cathedral guides, identifiable by their blue robes, are happy to answer any of your questions or provide a tour. With an active congregation, the cathedral holds regular services you are welcome to join. Breathtaking! Tourist error #1= Inappropriate dress. And I know better! Taxi dropped us off Sunday morning and we were just in time for services. Realizing I was extremely below standards I paused and asked the usher if I could enter. "God looks at your heart, not your clothes. You are very welcome!" And we were!Mourning suits, hats, dresses and me...singing and worshipping amongst the most beautiful sacred architecture. History is built around and through this landmark you will not want to miss. The priest is a great wealth of knowledge and will show you around with a smile and a story or two. An usher will walk over and point out a highlight. The clock is a piece of beauty and then you hear the music of the pipe organ. Pamphlets and photos are encouraged and offered. The bus route is right nearby but plan to spend time in the cemetery looking through generations of love and how they honored those who went before. Thank you to the loving, warm congregation that lived what they preached.

Nice cathedral, not the best I have been to but still a pleasure to experience such well kept beauty. It is positioned beautifully next to a place of rest with some lovely monuments. Free entry, not pram friendly so will need carrying down and the steps.
