Take a free guided tour of City Chambers, a historic building dominating George Square and housing the Glasgow City Council. An eminent example of Victorian civic architecture, the building was constructed between 1882 and 1888 based on a competition-winning design by architect William Young. Officially opened for business by Queen Victoria, the building hosted its first council meeting in October of 1889. The exterior features sculptures by artist James Alexander Ewing, who designed the central Jubilee Pediment in honor of Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee. The interior includes a grand staircase made of marble and alabaster, with a ceiling decorated in gold leaf and topped by a stained-glass dome. Daily tours of the site conclude on the upper gallery, offering a detailed look at the iconic dome. Got married there recently in the Satinwood Suite and it was definitely right choice of venue for our civil ceremony. All our guests were in awe with the beauty of the building and our pictures are just amazing. The staff were really nice and courteous. Very, very pleased.

Loved the tour from Donna! You could tell she has given it quite a couple of times, but ever so in a good way. She has anecdotes, quirky facts and points out things you don't see at first glance. Blow away by the beauty hidden behind the doors. ps: the tour is free, so + for every budget traveler. THANKS FOR HAVING US!
