Edinburgh Photography Workshop, Edinburgh

What a great start to my day! I met Richard at 10:30 for the workshop, and over the next four hours, he managed to teach us the basics of switching to manual on your camera and about different composition techniques, and then some. He guided us through the Grassmarket and down the Mile, and showed me some bits of Edinburgh I had never even noticed. He's really patient with new photographers and encourages you to try again if you don't get it the first time. To quote Richard himself, "The workshop doesn't end at the end of the day." He was really open and willing to let us approach him with additional questions after the session so we could continue developing our skills. Whether you're new to photography, or have some experience, Richard knows how to help you get the most out of the workshop. If you're considering taking this workshop, I would certainly encourage you to take it. I think it's definitely worth the price! I am considering taking his Night Photography Workshop as well.

I went on the Switch to Manual workshop as I really wanted to start getting my head round the technical aspects to be able to be more creative with my photography. The theory was explained really well, and it's a great informal relaxed learning experience. There was plenty of opportunity for fieldwork and practice with time to let the new things you've learnt sink in and play around with the settings. The course then finishes with a review of the pics and helpful hints and tips for post production that can help make those good shots into great ones. Would highly recommend this for anyone looking to get away from the auto camera settings and take control of their photos.
