  • A surprising wealth of exhibits hidden behind an unassuming frontage. I loved the way the exhibits are laid out unconventionally, by theme rather than historical or scientific categories, and how visitors are encouraged to interact with what they see. In the world cultures room, for instance, you are invited to share how an exhibit makes you feel by leaving a peg with an emotion in a slot next to the display. The natural history exhibit has so much to explore, for adults and children alike, and feeds your curiousity through various activities. Fully disabled and pushchair accessible.
  • Joseph Wright gallery - superb collection, well-interpreted (refreshingly not dumbed down.). Other collections also very well displayed. The Curators, Management, and Members of Staff should all be congratulated upon their work. Anyone with an interest in History, Natural History, Military History, Fine art, and World Cultures will find something, probably many things, of interest. Entry is free.
