Perched atop a tall hill lie the fortress ruins of Corfe Castle, built by William the Conqueror in the 11th century. The steep slopes provide tremendous views of the quaint village below. The remains of the west bailey contain a stone wall with three towers dating from 1202, when the structure was refortified.
