Of the Pagan Neolithic henge monuments, such as Stonehenge, Avebury Stone Circle has the largest circle. It is still a place of religious importance to modern day Pagans, as well as a popular destination for tourists. The stone circles were constructed around 2600 BCE, but not all at the same time. Archaeologists believe that the circles were built slowly over the years, but there's no agreement as to their use. The National Trust manages the site and has been careful about maintaining its integrity by prohibiting development that would commercialize the attraction. However, you'll find two shops in the nearby village that sell gifts and hand out information: one is the National Trust's own shop, the other is a New Age shop that sells items related to the spirituality of the stone circles.
