With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.

Dallas, USA to Culebra is an approximately 13-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 2 hours traveling from Dallas to Culebra. Traveling from Dallas in December, expect Culebra to be much warmer, temps between 85°F and 75°F. Adjuntas is a small mountainside municipality in Puerto Rico located central midwest of the island on the Cordillera Central, north of Yauco, Guayanilla and Peñuelas; southeast of Utuado; east of Lares and Yauco; and west of Ponce. Traveling by car from El Yunque National Forest to Adjuntas takes 3 hours. Traveling from El Yunque National Forest in December, things will get little chillier in Adjuntas: highs are around 80°F and lows about 70°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 23rd (Wed) so you can go by car to San Juan.
