Reykjavik, the world's most northerly capital, effortlessly combines small-town charm with heaps of big city energy.
Get out of town with these interesting Reykjavik side-trips: Grindavik (Gunnuhver Hot Springs & Thermal Spas) and Thingvellir (Oxararfoss, Thingvellir National Park, &more). Spend the 12th (Wed) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. You can drive from Reykjavik to Geysir in 2 hours. Another option is to take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 11°C in May, and nighttime lows around 3°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 16th (Sun) so you can go by car to Vik.
