Varenna is a comune (municipality) on Lake Como in the Province of Lecco in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 60km north of Milan and about 20km northwest of Lecco.Varenna was founded by local fishermen in 769, and was later allied of the commune of Milan. Known as the pearl of Lake Como for its luxury accommodations, high-end shops, and fine dining options, Bellagio serves as the lake's premiere resort town.
On the 15th (Tue), pause for some serene contemplation at Chiesa di S. Leonardo, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Basilica di San Giacomo, admire the striking features of I Giardini di Villa Melzi, then walk around La Punta Spartivento, and finally paddle through the water with a kayaking and canoeing tour.
