Lihue or Līhue is an unincorporated census-designated place (CDP) and the county seat of Kauai County, Hawaii. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Maha'ulepu Heritage Trail and Sleeping Giant Trail. Visit Shipwreck Beach and Polihale State Park for some beach relaxation. Change things up with these side-trips from Lihue: Allerton Garden (in Poipu), Swinging Bridge (in Hanapepe) and Canyon Trail (in Waimea). There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Pali Ke Kua Beach (Hideaway s Beach), tour the pleasant surroundings at Ke'e Beach, take an unforgettable tour with a helicopter tour, and take in the dramatic natural features at Makawehi Bluff.
