Gateway to the World

As the country's biggest port and one of the busiest in all of Europe, Hamburg has a well-deserved reputation as Germany's Gateway to the World.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Miniatur Wunderland and Walking tours. There's lots more to do: appreciate the extensive heritage of Alter Elbtunnel, stroll around Planten un Blomen, admire the landmark architecture of Speicherstadt, and explore the world behind art at Kunsthalle Hamburg.

Berlin to Hamburg is an approximately 2.5-hour train ride. You can also drive; or take a bus. In October in Hamburg, expect temperatures between 16°C during the day and 9°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Sun) to allow enough time to drive to Bremerhaven.

Bremerhaven

Though often overshadowed by its larger and better-known neighbor of Bremen, Bremerhaven has its own distinct identity.
Start off your visit on the 19th (Mon): enjoy breathtaking views from Viewing Platform SAIL City, meet the residents at Zoo am Meer, and then step aboard U-Boot Wilhelm Bauer.

Hannover, northern Germany's major urban center, may be best known for hosting annual commercial trade fairs.
On the 20th (Tue), walk around Stadtpark and then meet the residents at Erlebnis Zoo Hannover. On your second day here, contemplate the waterfront views at Maschsee, admire the striking features of Trammplatz, then ponder the world of politics at The New Town Hall, and finally walk around Eilenriede - Park.
