Set against the stark but scenic coastline of the Bass Strait--the body of water separating Victoria and Tasmania--Torquay is a prime location for surfing and beach life in general.
On the 2nd (Sun), admire all the interesting features of The Great Ocean Road and then kick back and relax at Torquay Front Beach. Here are some ideas for day two: get the adrenaline pumping with Australian Skydive, enjoy the sand and surf at Bells Beach, and then stroll around Coogoorah Park Nature Reserve.

Melbourne to Torquay is an approximately 1.5-hour car ride. You can also take a bus; or take a train. In January, daily temperatures in Torquay can reach 30°C, while at night they dip to 16°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Mon) so you can go by car to Apollo Bay.

Port Campbell is a coastal town in Victoria, Australia. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Port Campbell precinct and foreshore and The Arch. Escape the urban bustle at Twelve Apostles and Port Campbell National Park. When in Port Campbell, make a side trip to see Mt Leura lookout in Camperdown, approximately Camperdown away. There's lots more to do: explore the striking landscape at The Razorback, look for all kinds of wild species at Loch Ard Gorge, and explore and take pictures at Gibsons Steps.
