Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Start off your visit on the 29th (Sun): admire the masterpieces at Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma (Nykytaiteen Museo), admire the striking features of Temppeliaukion Church, take an in-depth tour of Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum, then explore the galleries of Fortress of Suomenlinna, and finally pause for some serene contemplation at Helsinki Cathedral. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: take in the architecture and atmosphere at Kallio Church, then hunt for treasures at Hakaniemi Market, then shop like a local with Old Market Hall, and finally get to know the fascinating history of The Esplanadi Park.

Munich, Germany to Helsinki is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of shuttle and bus. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Munich to Helsinki. Plan for a bit cooler temperatures traveling from Munich in January, with highs in Helsinki at -1°C and lows at -8°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 30th (Mon) to allow enough time to ride a ferry to Tallinn.

A historic city with its eye firmly on the future, Tallinn blends medieval fortifications, gleaming skyscrapers, and charming boutiques with a spattering of Soviet relics.
On the 31st (Tue), take a stroll through Tallinn Old Town, steep yourself in history at Tallinn Legends, then wander the streets of Toompea Hill, and finally examine the collection at Lennusadam Seaplane Harbour. On the 1st (Wed), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: contemplate the long history of Pirita Convent, stop by Town Council's Aphothecary, then examine the collection at Niguliste Museum, then contemplate the long history of Peter the Great House Museum, and finally browse the exhibits of Kadriorg Palace.

You can ride a ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can fly. In January in Tallinn, expect temperatures between -3°C during the day and -9°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 1st (Wed) to allow enough time to travel to Riga.

Often referred to as "The Paris of the North," Riga offers thriving nightlife and some of the best collections of Art Nouveau architecture in Europe.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Castle Cesis and Nativity of Christ Cathedral. Latvian Ethnographic Open Air Museum and Riga Ghetto and Latvian Holocaust Museum will appeal to museum buffs.
