City of Beautiful Towers
Founded in the 10th century as a Viking fishing village, Copenhagen has morphed into the cultural, political, and economic powerhouse of the country.Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Nyhavn and Rosenborg Castle. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Illums Bolighus and Dragor Havn. Get out of town with these interesting Copenhagen side-trips: Frederiksborg Castle (in Hillerod), Kronborg (in Helsingoer) and Louisiana Museum of Modern Art (in Humlebaek). And it doesn't end there: stop by National Gallery of Denmark, examine the collection at Thorvaldsens Museum, take an in-depth tour of National Museum of Denmark, and wander the streets of Stroeget.
For photos, other places to visit, and other tourist information, refer to the Copenhagen travel planner.
If you are flying in from Germany, the closest major aiport is Copenhagen Kastrup Airport. In October, plan for daily highs up to 15°C, and evening lows to 9°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 28th (Wed) so you can travel back home.
