The Heart of Tasmania
Lying in the Tamar Valley and surrounded by forested hills, the grid-patterned city of Launceston boasts shaded avenues, vibrant street life, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere.Kick off your visit on the 2nd (Sun): admire the verdant scenery at The Tamar Valley, stop by The Mill Providore Gifts & Gallery, then identify plant and animal life at Cataract Gorge Reserve, and finally snap pictures at Alexandra Suspension Bridge. Sydney to Launceston is an approximately 3.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train, ferry, and bus; or do a combination of bus and ferry.
