Official Hometown of Santa Claus

An urban center set amongst the great Arctic wilderness, Rovaniemi serves as the capital of Lapland province.
Step out of the city life by going to Napapiirin Porofarmi and Syvasenvaara Fell. Santa's House of Snowmobiles and Christmas House Santa are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Change things up with a short trip to Tatuka Reindeerfarm in Ylitornio (about 38 minutes away). And it doesn't end there: look for gifts at LAURI Handicraft Shop & Atelier, stroll the grounds of German Soldier s Cemetery, don't miss a visit to Lordi's Square, and get engrossed in the history at Rovaniemi Local History Museum.

Finland's largest and most popular ski resort, the fell of Levi provides excellent slopes and lively nightlife in an enchanting setting.
Family-friendly places like Levi Huskypark and Polar Star Travel will thrill your kids. Escape the urban bustle at Santa"s Cottage & Pet Farm and Jemes Sport. When in Levi, make a side trip to see Sarestoniemi Museum in Kaukonen, approximately Kaukonen away. There's still lots to do: relax in the rural setting at Ounaskievari Reindeer Farm, make a trip to Giewont Husky Adventures, stop by Inghams Mini Husky Experience, and take in the pleasant sights at Huippupolku, Peak Trail in Levi.

Drive from Rovaniemi to Levi in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Expect a daytime high around -6°C in December, and nighttime lows around -15°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 23rd (Wed) to allow enough time to travel back home.
