Hamburg

— 59 nights

Gateway to the World

As the country's biggest port and one of the busiest in all of Europe, Hamburg has a well-deserved reputation as Germany's Gateway to the World.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Alster Lakes and Ohlsdorf Cemetery. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Hamburg: Bremerhaven (Container-Aussichtsturm, Schaufenster Fischereihafen, &more), Familienlagune Perlebucht (in Busum) and Sankt-Johannis-Kirche (in Meldorf). Pack the 22nd (Tue) with family-friendly diversions at Heide Park. There's still lots to do: examine the collection at International Maritime Museum, get engrossed in the history at Museum of Hamburg History, see where the action happens at Volksparkstadion, and take a tour of Rickmer Rickmers.

To see photos, reviews, where to stay, and more tourist information, refer to the Hamburg online attractions planner.

If you are flying in from Ghana, the closest major aiports are Hamburg Airport, Bremen Airport and Hannover Airport. Expect a daytime high around 22°C in September, and nighttime lows around 12°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 2nd (Sat) so you can travel back home.
