The medieval town of Bruges centers around a canal, and the architecture of its historical district has made it a World Heritage Site.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Historic Centre of Brugge and Ramparts Cemetery. Step off the beaten path and head to Church of Our Lady Bruges and Saint George's Memorial Church. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Bruges: Messines Ridge (in Mesen), Ieper (Ypres) (Market Square, Bedford House Cemetery, &more) and De Panne Beach (in De Panne). Although decidedly industrial on the outskirts, Liege also boasts impressive architecture.
