A planned city with streets laid out in elaborate, geometric patterns and founded specifically to serve as the capital of the emerging Australian state, Canberra has a self-sufficient atmosphere.
Step off the beaten path and head to National Museum of Australia and ANZAC Parade Walk. Change things up with a short trip to Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex in Paddys River (about 44 minutes away).
