6 days in Hoi An & Hue Itinerary

Indisputably one of Vietnam's most atmospheric destinations, Hoi An contains a World Heritage-listed old town boasting over 2,000 years of culture and history.

Take a break from Hoi An with a short trip to Mỹ Sơn in Duy Xuyen District, about 1h 15 min away. There's much more to do: make a trip to Hoi An Ancient Town, let your taste buds guide you at a local gastronomic tour, stroll through The Marble Mountains, and take in the views from Japanese Covered Bridge.

Hanoi to Hoi An is an approximately 4-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and taxi. In September in Hoi An, expect temperatures between 38°C during the day and 29°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 14th (Thu) to allow time to drive to Hue.

Nestled on the banks of the Perfume River, the city of Hue remains most famous as the former home of the Nguyen Dynasty, the influence of which remains evident in local palaces, temples, forts, and museums.

On the 14th (Thu), admire the landmark architecture of Thien Mu Pagoda, contemplate the long history of Imperial City, and then contemplate the long history of Hon Chen Temple. Here are some ideas for day two: contemplate the long history of Tomb of Tu Duc, then steep yourself in history at Tomb of Minh Mang, then hit the road with Le Family Rider, and finally see Hue Easy Rider.
