Explore Gold Coast's surroundings by going to Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre (in Murwillumbah), Norries Head (in Cabarita) and Byron Bay (Cape Byron Walking Track, Cape Byron Lighthouse, &more). Sydney to Gold Coast is an approximately 3.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 24°C in July, and nighttime lows around 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 5th (Wed) so you can drive to Brisbane.

Queensland’s biggest town and state capital, Brisbane has an attractive, manicured image based around its riverside aesthetic as well as the contrast between its high-rise center and extensive urban greenery.
Change things up with these side-trips from Brisbane: Maleny (Obi Boardwalk, Maleny Mountain Wines, &more), Australia Zoo (in Beerwah) and Mount Ngungun (in Glass House Mountains).
