Grindelwald-Wengen-Murren-Lauterbrunnen travel guide
Jungfrau Region consists of two valleys north of the Jungfrau, a popular mountain-climbing destination standing 4,158 m (13,642 ft). Its extremely steep north face has historically rendered it inaccessible, but today, networks of cable cars and trains send tourists to its peaks, including the Jungfraubahn rail that leads to the highest train station in Europe at 3,454 m (11,332 ft). Its spectacular heights and over 90-percent coverage of rocks and ice has earned the region a spot on the World Heritage List. The natural beauty and magnificence of the Bernese Alps is balanced by a charming local culture complete with lace-making, traditional costume dances, flag waving, and folk music.
