Province of Bari travel guide

4.1
Landmarks · Architectural Buildings · Sacred & Religious Sites
Bari is the capital city of the Metropolitan City of Bari and of the Apulia region, on the Adriatic Sea, in Italy. It is the second most important economic centre of mainland Southern Italy after Naples, a port and university city, as well as the city of Saint Nicholas. The city itself has a population of about 326,799, over 116km2, while the urban area has 700,000 inhabitants. The metropolitan area has 1.3 million inhabitants.Bari is made up of four different urban sections. To the north is the closely built old town on the peninsula between two modern harbours, with the Basilica of Saint Nicholas, the Cathedral of San Sabino (1035–1171) and the Hohenstaufen Castle built for Frederick II, which is now also a major nightlife district. To the south is the Murat quarter (erected by Joachim Murat), the modern heart of the city, which is laid out on a rectangular grid-plan with a promenade on the sea and the major shopping district (the via Sparano and via Argiro).Modern residential zones surrounding the centre of Bari were built during the 1960s and 1970s replacing the old suburbs that had developed along roads splaying outwards from gates in the city walls. In addition, the outer suburbs developed rapidly during the 1990s. The city has a redeveloped airport named after Pope John Paul II, Karol Wojtyła Airport, with connections to several European cities.

Green Heart of Europe
One of the three richest countries in the world, Luxembourg celebrates its wealth of natural and historical sites as well. Landlocked by Belgium, France, and Germany, this nation represents a blend of cultures, which are evident as you explore the nation's villages, outdoor attractions, and capital. If you prefer city living, discover Luxembourg City's old town, with World Heritage status. This small nation's rolling countryside is equally charming, offering castles and plenty of opportunity for recreation and leisure. Go for a bike ride, hike the country's mountainous region, or spend time at renowned vineyards.

Business Microstate
One of the smallest but most successful countries in the world, the German-speaking microstate of Liechtenstein is known primarily for two things: its gorgeous Alpine location and strong economy. Due to its size, Liechtenstein is culturally influenced by its neighboring countries, Austria and Switzerland. It is also quite similar to them geographically, with a mountainous landscape that draws scores of tourists for winter holidays. Outdoor enthusiasts have plenty to enjoy here year-round, with numerous hiking and biking trails. As the second-richest nation in the world with one of the lowest unemployment rates, Lichtenstein's charm nevertheless lies in the pride its citizens take in their country's independence and natural splendor.

San Marino travel guide

3.4
Historic Sites · Specialty Museums · Castles
San Marino is a country characterized by its architecture--namely, the three towers that adorn the country's flag and coat of arms. As a result, most of the tourist attractions here center around the structures protruding from the hill of the country. The third-smallest nation in Europe, it is surprising that San Marino managed to gain independence from robust Italy. This status has created great pride among the Sanmarinese, although Italian culture is still quite influential as the country is completely surrounded by Italy. And while its size has obvious disadvantages, the advantages for tourism strongly outweigh them. Visitors don't need to travel to get a sense of the country (there isn't far to go!), and this generates an intimacy and friendliness among locals that is lost in most larger countries.
