Outback Capital of the Northern Territory

The smallest of Australia’s state capitals, Darwin has nevertheless become an attractive and important urban center, being simultaneously one of the country’s most modernized cities and a gateway to both the Top End region and South East Asia.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Darwin: Territory Wildlife Park (in Berry Springs) and Litchfield National Park (Magnetic Termite Mounds & Florence Falls). Spend the 26th (Tue) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. Next up on the itinerary: stroll through Mindil Beach, head outdoors with Outdoor Activities, see the interesting displays at Defence of Darwin Experience, and cool off at Darwin Waterfront.

A modern metropolis of glassy skyscrapers, waterside boulevards, and lush residential neighborhoods, Perth sits on the edge of the Swan Coastal Plain.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Perth: Penguin Island (in Rockingham), Fremantle (WA Maritime Museum, Fremantle Prison, &more) and Talijancich Wines (in Herne Hill). Dedicate the 13th (Sat) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. There's lots more to do: walk around Kings Park and Botanic Garden, learn about wildlife with up-close encounters at Perth Zoo, steep yourself in history at The Perth Mint, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Caversham Wildlife Park.
