Serravalle Scrivia is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Alessandria in the Italian region of Piedmont, located about 100km southeast of Turin and about 25km southeast of Alessandria.Serravalle Scrivia borders the following municipalities: Arquata Scrivia, Cassano Spinola, Gavi, Novi Ligure, Stazzano, and Vignole Borbera.HistoryThe settlement was probably founded by the inhabitants of the Roman city of Libarna after the destruction of that city in 452 AD.From 1122 Serravalle Scrivia belonged to the bishops of Tortona, until they ceded it to the commune of Tortona, in exchange for the defence of their lands.
