Founded by grenadier Carlos Murphy in 1770, the city of Caacupe serves as the capital of the Cordillera department.
On the 31st (Wed), ponder the design of Tupasy Ycua, then take in the pleasant sights at El Escondido, and then pause for some serene contemplation at Catedral Virgen de Caacupe. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 1st (Thu): see the interesting displays at Museo Historico Comandante Pedro Pablo Caballero, make a trip to Plaza de los Heroes, and then take in the dramatic scenery at Salto Siete Caidas.

If you are flying in from Australia, the closest major aiport is Silvio Pettirossi International Airport. In October, plan for daily highs up to 35°C, and evening lows to 22°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 1st (Thu) to allow enough time to travel back home.
