Set against the backdrop of the imposing Arenal Volcano, La Fortuna de San Carlos offers visitors a chance to explore diverse natural landscapes and sample some delicious local produce.

Founded in 1535 by Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, Lima represents an interesting blend of modern attractions and preserved colonial architecture, much of it clustered in the World Heritage-listed city center.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Centro Historico de Lima and El Silencio. Step out of the city life by going to Catarata de Antankallo and Reserva Nacional Lomas de Lachay. There's still lots to do: steep yourself in history at Huaca Pucllana, take a stroll through Miraflores, and walk around Nor Yauyos-Cochas Landscape Reserve.

Explore your travel options from Cahuita to Lima with the Route module. The time zone changes from Central Standard Time (CST) to Peru Standard Time (PET), which is usually a 1 hour difference. Prepare for little chillier weather when traveling from Cahuita in December: high temperatures in Lima hover around 75°F and lows are around 66°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 11th (Sun) to allow time to travel to Cusco.
