Fira, the busy capital of Santorini, sits on the very edge of a volcanic caldera.
Kids will enjoy Akrotiri and Perissa Black Sand Beach. Step out of Fira with an excursion to La Ponta in Akrotiri--about 32 minutes away. There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Red Beach, tour the pleasant surroundings at Perivolos, see the world from above with a helicopter tour, and hike along Ekklisia Theoskepasti hiking trail.
