Queensland’s biggest town and state capital, Brisbane has an attractive, manicured image based around its riverside aesthetic as well as the contrast between its high-rise center and extensive urban greenery.
Chenrezig Institute and Nepalese Pagoda will appeal to history buffs. Art on Cairncross and Artworks in Clay by Anne Gentry-Smith will appeal to museum buffs. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Brisbane: Opals Down Under (in Glenview), Mooloolaba Beach (in Mooloolaba) and Kawana Shoppingworld (in Buddina). There's still lots to do: look for all kinds of wild species at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, examine the collection at Opal Museum, take some stellar pictures from Mount Coot-Tha Summit Lookout, and admire the masterpieces at Gallery of Modern Art.
