In many ways much more Asian than American, Honolulu is Hawaii's largest city and its center of government, transportation, commerce, and tourism.
Explore hidden gems such as Koko Crater Railway Trail and Manoa Falls. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Honolulu: Haleiwa (Waimea Bay & Sunset Beach Park), Pu’u O Mahuka Heiau State Monument (in Pupukea) and Swim with Dolphins (in Waianae). There's lots more to do: stroll the grounds of USS Arizona Memorial, examine the collection at USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park, appreciate the history behind King Kamehameha Statue, and take in the dramatic natural features at Halona Blowhole.

To see where to stay, photos, maps, and tourist information, read our Honolulu travel planner.

Houston to Honolulu is an approximately 10.5- hour combination of bus and flight. You can also do a combination of car and flight. The time zone difference moving from Central Standard Time (CST) to Hawaii Standard Time (HST) is minus 4 hours. Expect a bit warmer temperatures when traveling from Houston in December; daily highs in Honolulu reach 82°F and lows reach 69°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 9th (Wed) so you can travel to Lahaina.
